Jobcast # 26: Clockwork Kubrick (What Stanley Knew)

The Great Kubrick Debate with Recluse (Steve Snider)
12

A three-hour talk with Recluse (Steve Snider) about his new book The Minotaur: A Kubrick Odyssey, in which we cover pretty much everything that hasn’t been discussed about Kubrick, either in Matrix 1 of Kubrick “academia” or in Matrix 2 of “crypyo-Kubrology.” Recluse and I come from opposite ends of the Kubrick spectrum (he is a lifetime SK fan, I am a lifetime detractor), and we meet in the deep, dark middle where very little about Stanley is what it seems. One thing we can agree on (mostly) is that Kubrick was not making ordinary movies, and that his entire monolithic oeuvre was part of a bleak parapolitical backdrop that makes Eyes Wide Shut look like eye candy.

Not to be missed.
